Travel Report: Shuangtou Bridge, Hangzhou.

Shuangtou Bridge, Hangzhou.
October 2017. I must have covered every inch of West Lake’s gorgeous parkland during my five days in Hangzhou. One of the lake’s great joys is its beautiful collection of sculpted bridges. My favourite of the bunch is Shuangtou Bridge, located in Changqiao Park near Tangyun Art Gallery.

The bridge provides some truly wonderful West Lake views. In fact, most cruises stop here for a few minutes in order to admire it. And for the fact that it’s an excellent spot from which to enjoy the distant form of Leifeng Pagoda.

It won’t take you more than five minutes to work your way down the simple stone pathway. Just head over the mini arch and into Shuangto Bridge’s sole wooden gazebo.
Due to the often insane crowds, it’s advisable to get here early so that you can actually enjoy it. After all, the bridge’s walkway is very narrow, hence it doesn’t take much for things to get hectic.
On the day of our visit we managed to time things just right. Indeed Wonderboy was so charmed by it all he insisted we take a load off for a few minutes and drink the scene in.

Shuangtou Bridge really comes into its own at dusk. The colours will take your breath away, but be prepared to share the experience with a million and one friends.

Sunset sees local photographers flock to Changqiao Park to setup their tripods and grab shots of the bridge in the fading light.

Nice photography as I have come to expect. However, sharing the experience with a million and one new friends is not one of my favorite memories of China. Still, you take what you can get.
Yup, I never ever wanted to experience those kinds of crowds again. And now COVID-19 makes those sentiments even stronger!
Happy that I came across your amazing blog. Awesome travels, nicely-written posts. I just hit follow! 🙂
Hey, thanks a lot! Thanks for taking the time to drop me a message.
I love the evening shots of the bridge – and all the photographers!!!!
Thanks Marie, it’s a cool little spot.
