Join me for an afternoon exploring the pretty Scottish town of Dunbar in East Lothian. Beautifully perched on the North Sea coast of East Lothian, at first glance it’s easy to dismiss this cosy place as mere eye candy. However, Dunbar actually has bags of history to back up its natural beauty.
Let me take you to one of Scotland’s loveliest beaches. We’ll also check out the arresting ruins of an ancient castle and the town’s recently restored eighteenth century battery. Moreover, we’ll stroll down the charming High Street and pay our respects to John Muir, the hugely influential naturalist, author, philosopher and inventor.
Muir’s birthplace and childhood home is now a museum and an excellent place to discover the great man’s amazing life story. Learn about his modest beginnings and tough upbringing at the hands of his fierce father. And, of course, how his life’s work led to him being crowned America’s “father of the national parks”.
