Time for a posting break….

“The time has come the walrus said, to think of other things”.

Non-posting things.

No matter how hard I try to get on top of my gargantuan to-do list I just cannot seem to push this little blog of mine far enough down The Yellow Brick Road. It’s been over three months since I departed China and I’m nowhere near meeting the goals I set. This is partly to do with the fact that, despite my best efforts, I can’t seem to stop travelling, seeing new places, taking more photographs and adding more potential travel reports to the black hole that is my back catalogue. In just three months I’ve been across South Korea, spent nearly a month reconnecting with London and enjoyed extensive travels across England and Scotland with published reports from Colchester, Cambridge and Liverpool.

I haven’t even gotten round to writing up Lancaster, Carnforth, Morecambe, The Lake District, Galashiels, Fort William, Banavie, Arisaig, Oban and Loch Ness. And after that there are literally hundreds of unwritten locations waiting to be brought to life from my adventures over the last twenty years. And then there’s my next waaaaay overdue short story series. What’s a travel blogger to do?

Blogging, blogging, blogging. Tooting Bec, July 2019.

Friends, family and fellow travel bloggers often ask me: “How the hell do you put out a new travel report every day!” And I never know what to say. I guess I’ve managed to reach a state of discipline, fuelled by a burning desire to a) reach the end of all the reports I wanna share and b) become one of planet earth’s most prolific travel bloggers. But it’s finally time to concede that with sooooo much stuff to be done in the background I simply can’t continue to do the every-day-thing. So it’s time for me to treat myself to a big old giant Kit Kat and… have a break.

But of course it’s not a real break, merely a break from posting. During this much-needed hiatus there will be reformatting, SEO tweaking, social media promotion, image optimisation, business card design and the small matter of an eleven day trip to Serbia in August. And yeah, at some point I’ll need to start work on the next cluster of travel reports. As is my tradition with these update posts, I’ll leave you with the latest round of Leighton Literature statistics. Thanks for your continued readership and see you on the other side!

Hi Barbara, thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. I guess I had a love/hate affair with China, so many things about the life and culture there are difficult to deal with and yet some of my fondest travel memories are scattered around the country. If you’re only travelling I’d say do it! If you’re weighing up a job of some kind I suggest a lot of research and soul searching to make sure China is what you want. I’ve written hundreds and hundreds of travel reports from around the country:
Alternatively, I also wrote a short story series about my first year of teaching back in 2009-2010.

Thank you for your suggestions and I will definitely research further. However your travel report on China is quite detailed and informative.
