Visit Tivat

Visit Tivat.

An afternoon swim at Waikiki Beach.
At the end of August, 2019, Sladja and I left Serbia for a 7-week adventure in Montenegro. It was the start of the post-Covid era and the world (or so we thought) was finally starting to return to some kind of normal.

Visit Tivat.
For the first month of our trip we based ourselves in the chiselled coastal community of Tivat. Labelled the Monte Carlo of the Balkans, this diminutive town commands a fabulous position perched seductively on the sparkling blue bay of Kotor.

Finding ourselves at a professional crossroads, we filled our mornings and afternoons with work projects in a hillside apartment above the bay. There we plotted the seeds of what would become our own online English school.

Late afternoons, evenings and off days meanwhile saw us dive enthusiastically into Tivat’s numerous charms. Indeed we spent hours strolling the fancy promenade with its countless cafes, restaurants and bars.

Moreover, we crossed off Tivat’s many beaches, one by one, including some delightfully sleepy stretches on the outskirts of town.

We also made sure to wander Veliki Gradski Park and the time warp neighbourhood of Donja Lastva with its stone houses and narrow lanes.

What’s more, we paid a visit to the Naval Heritage Museum where we toured a former Yugoslav Army submarine dating back to the 1960s.
