Visit Fort William: Parade Park.

With my sister and her family based in the nearby village of Banavie, I’ve paid many a visit to the town of Fort William over the years. In fact, I even lived here for a brief spell back in the early noughties.

Perched on the edge of Loch Linnhe, and as the gateway to Ben Nevis and the Witch’s trails, nature enthusiasts call this place “The outdoor capital of the UK”.

In addition to its wondrous landscapes, there’s bags of history around town. Moreover, I’ve recently come to realise that its somewhat bedraggled town centre has plenty to offer, if you know where to look.

Visit Inverlochy Castle Fort William.

Inverlochy Castle.

I used to think Fort William was a drab place with little to see or do. But with a little motivation and some luck with the infernal weather, this is a truly gorgeous spot in The Scottish Highlands.
