Visit Perast

Visit Perast.

A jewel of the Montenegrin coast.
It would be really tough for Sladja and I to pick just one location as the most beautiful of our two month stay in Montenegro. Indeed our adventures on the Montenegrin coast stand as some of the most picturesque of our 5 + years travelling the world together.

Still, if such a choice had to be made, the tiny town of Perast would surely be a contender for the top prize.

We came here on a day trip from nearby Tivat. Immediately we could see what all the fuss is about; from the charm and grace of its cape location to its superb history as a Venetian maritime hub.

What a memorable day it proved to be. Naturally we took a cruise on the cape to visit the gorgeous Our Lady of the Rocks islet and its fabulous 17th century church.

Moreover, we spent a couple of hours diving into the town’s proud naval history at Perast Museum. Particularly impressive is its large collection of antiques from the various Venetian palaces of the day.

Finally, we rounded off the day with some exploring of the town itself. Of its sculpted former palaces and characterful churches.

After taking in a typically stunning Perast sunset our final task was to settle on a spot for dinner. And in that regard we were certainly spoilt for choice.
