"Short stories and travel reports from my life adventures around the globe".
In late 2008 I’d just got married! To celebrate, my wife and I decided to visit Morocco for our honeymoon. And so followed an unforgettable couple of weeks touring the country by train.
We paid tribute to the spirit of Bogart and Bergman at Rick’s Cafe in Casablanca. In Marrakech, we dodged the relentless henna girls and sat with the snake charmers on Jemaa El-Fnaa plaza. In fact, that square proved so damn beautiful, I even picked up a painting of it from a ramshackle market store run by a local painter.
We also went to the windswept coastal town of Essaouria with its quiet beaches, community of fishermen and elevated fortress. Finally, we treated ourselves to some hiking across the foothills of The Atlas Mountains and their gorgeous waterfalls.
Essaouira Fortress, Morocco. October 2008.
It was a memorable trip and, in my mind at least, an all too brief one. As a result, Morocco is one of those countries I’d definitely love to go back to. To find out more about my adventures here , check out my travel reports from:
