In June 2010 I moved to The Netherlands to settle down with my wife in her homeland. The plan was to get a proper job, buy a house and have kids. You know, that whole life plan thing. Consequently, I thought I was going to be based in The Netherlands for the rest of my life.

Three years later however it had all come crashing down and we were filing for divorce. It can be devastating when life doesn’t work out the way you thought it would.

Nevertheless, I still look back on those Dutch days with a great deal of fondness. After all, I somehow managed to land the job of my dreams, fall madly in love with the city of Amsterdam and make plenty of trips around the country.
