Visit Budva

Visit Budva, Montenegro.

The postcard-perfect Montenegrin town of Budva on the Adriatic Coast.
In the autumn of 2021 Sladja and I spent several months living on and exploring the Adriatic coast of Montenegro. For the first month we lived in the pretty town of Tivat, a base that enabled us to explore the gorgeous fortress town of Kotor, the spectacular village of Perast and the peaceful mountaintop hamlet of Gornja Lastva.

For our second month, we decided to move twenty kilometres up the coast to the town of Budva. After everything we’d seen thus far, it definitely felt like Budva had a lot to live up to.

We needn’t have worried. In fact, Budva turned out to be yet another Montenegrin gem. Like Kotor, it has an incredibly charming and atmospheric old town where a visit feels like stepping back in time.

Moreover, we will never forget discovering the lovely beaches of Mogren and Rajska Vala, the latter providing a precarious but rewarding scramble up the rocks for incredible views across Budva Bay.

And of course, no trip to Budva would be complete without going for a spin around the bay with a local boatman.

And these are just glimpses of what makes Budva such an inviting travel destination. Indeed there is so much more, from hiking the city walls and seeking out the most beautiful churches, to the stories behind the statues and dramatic portraits of the local kitties.
