Visit Tokyo

Visit Tokyo: The Park Hyatt Hotel.
It’s hard not to feel a bit blue when, in the COVID era, one spends a large chunk of his time blogging about old trips. That realisation that they were the best of times. An era that we took for granted. Times that, in truth, may not return for a very long time. Or indeed ever be the same as they once were.

Visit Tokyo: Shibuya Crossing.
Looking back over my visit to Tokyo in January-February 2019 and… jeez …. I’m not sure I’ve had a better trip. Not in twenty plus years of global adventures.
I’m certainly not exaggerating. After all, where else could one go and play fight with a sumo wrestler? Hang out with the most exquisite rare owls? Have dinner in a vampire’s lair? Moreover, this was the trip on which I met Asimo, the humanoid robot. And went behind the scenes of my favourite movie at one of Japan’s most luxurious hotels.

Visit Tokyo: Sumo fun for everyone.
You’d be forgiven for thinking that I’ve just reeled off the highlights. In fact, I’ve barely scratched the surface. That would definitely be doing a disservice to the cinematic delights of The Ghibili Museum. To the bikini-clad, winged warriors of The Robot Restaurant.

Visit Tokyo: The Ghibli Museum.
Furthermore, Tokyo is home to the incomparable Akihabara Electric District. To some of my favourite temples, markets, bars and themed cafes. A place where you can pay homage to the world’s most loyal and beloved dog.

Visit Tokyo: A big o’ city.
